Assessments
Grading in Physical Geography
Assessments are straight forward and point distribution is indicated in the table below.

THE TESTS
The following four (5) Tests totaling 400 pts! The lowest score will be dropped!

Map Test (100 pts) This is a map & globe position test. You will be required to know longitude / latitude, arc degrees, minutes seconds, great circles, map scales, etc.. (Grading: 25 questions / 4pts ea.)

Lithosphere Test (100 pts) This test comprises common rocks and minerals, plate tectonic and associated landforms, islands & island arcs, volcanism & earthquakes, as well as the rock cycle, sedimentation, erosion & mass wasting, and metamorphism, etc. (Grading: 25 questions / 4pts ea.)

Hydrosphere Test (100 pts) This test includes everything water, such as groundwater, rivers, streams, lakes, oceans, etc.  (Grading: 25 questions / 4pts ea.)

Atmosphere Test (100 pts) Weather, Climate and Climate Zones are all part of this exam.  (Grading: 25 questions / 4pts ea.)

Biosphere Test (100 points).  Soils are a big part of this test as well as climate zones in relation to vegetation and animal life. Test includes common ecosystems. (Grading: 25 questions / 4pts ea.)

Up to 10 points Extra credit per  exam is available by completing LAB assignments on time (24 hours before the test). Please download the EXTRA CREDIT LOG for details. LAB assignments will be handed out in class by instructor.

ONLINE QUIZZES (200 pts). There are 8 Online Chapter quizzes worth 25 points each. The lowest score will be dropped. For details click on the link or blue button to the left to go to the quiz taking page.

BIOME PROJECT (150 pts)

COMPREHENSIVE FINAL EXAM (100 pts)
The final consists of 50 multiple choice questions, covering the material presented in the lectures and also in the book. Those who complete the above tests with an average above 80% and with NONE of the Tests less than 70% may opt out of the Final Exam in writing by completing a special form (CLICK HERE) and attach exam scores as proof. You will then receive your Test average from ALL the exams as your Comprehensive Final Exam Score. For the Final Exam schedule, please search www.mscd.edu.
