GEL3150 Groundwater (Hydrogeology) involves a great deal of math and could almost be termed an engineering course. There might be a false sense of security because the course description states that MTH 1110 and MTH 1210 are only recommended and not required. Be assured that these math classes are VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you want to be successful in this course. There will be an online math exam the first week of the course to test your math background qualifications. A review sheet for basic math skills I expect you to know is given here. If you do NOT receive at least 70% on this first exam, I highly recommend that you drop the class and sincerely brush up on your math skills before taking the course. The math will only get harder and more complex during the course and this will avoid much discouragement and tears later on!
Since the class is NOT A CORRESPONDENCE CLASS, you will NOT find in these pages: answers to study questions; copies of most of the handouts; postings of my power point lectures; etc. To receive the full benefit, you WILL HAVE TO ATTEND
FAQ:
Q: Is there any way to practice or prepare for the math in this class?
A: For basic skills various websites are available and a Google search about specific skills will suffice. More specific examples for the applied mathematics required in this course can be found at Fetter’s own site:!
