Lab Requirements
While the Lab Manual is FREE, you MUST purchase our
required Rock/Mineral Laboratory Kit for a very nominal
fee from the University Bookstore
Download the FREE Lab Manual PDF and purchase the required Rock/Mineral Lab Kit. Do the Labs as instructed during class lectures and turn them in by the indicated deadlines posted in the Course CANVAS page. There are 10 assigned labs in the course worth 20 points each.
DOWNLOAD THE LAB AND COMPLETE AS
ASSIGNED / INSTRUCTED
Download the ASSIGNED Individual Lab and
complete as instructed.
PREPARE THE LAB ELECTRONICALLY
Familiarize yourself intimately on how to edit text
and insert graphics with figure captions into MS
Word. Handwritten Labs will lose points or may
be rejected. Make sure you CITE your sources,
which includes any AI used in your Lab
preparation. Convert your finished Lab to a PDF
file before uploading and check if your file is
formatted correctly before submitting.
UPLOAD TO CANVAS BY THE DEADLINE
Submit your completed Lab in PDF format the
latest by the posted DEADLINE to CANVAS.
Don’t wait for the deadline, turn in early to avoid
late penalties (see CANVAS course calendar).
Multiple document submittals are allowed.
If you miss a deadline, don’t freak. There is a
generous 10-day grace period for all assignments
past the posted deadline. However, tlate work will
carry a -10% late penalty for every day late past
the deadline.
Note that receiving a ZERO / missing on ANY
assignment will exclude you from submitting extra
credit work.
